(the first cake doc brings back to wynonna is an atrocity. but it's also not vegan so they decide to ditch it and get one made by the demons in the kitchen instead. this one looks actually edible, pretty, and is vegan. vanilla and chocolate frosting. simple, and waverly's favorite.

waverly never got to celebrate her birthday much as a kid, which is why wynonna is showing up with doc now at her doorway, knocking, so they can do just that, celebrate. )

( Doc insisted on taking a picture of the atrocity, for the record. He helped do something. Okay, he drank while two other inebriated friends did the thing. But, is it not the thought that counts, Wynonna? )

She is in for a surprise.

( Doc? Excited. Very. Because, Waverly deserves this and a party but since the party is going to be for Wynonna, then this is the next best thing. He hopes Waverly has no clue about their plans. He did not give anything away after all. )

[Waverly had been just relaxing with a stack of books and some new information when she hears the knock at the door. Sara and Roman are both out, so she was taking advantage of having the common room to herself.

She pops up, making her way to the door, and greeting her two favorite people in Hell with a smile.]

Hey, guys. What's up?

Well, I heard a rumor that it's hell's favorite angel's birthday.

(suck it lucifer, that's right, waverly is the favorite. wynonna nudges doc in the ribs as a sign to tell him to reveal the cake he's been holding behind his back.)

( no reason to nudge! but, he's all too tickled to slide the pink box from around his back. )

We brought you something.

[Her face lights up immediately at the sight of the box, and then melts into a smile.]

Awww, you guys. You didn't have to do that.

[And she steps aside so they can come in.]

We wanted to, you deserve it.

(wynonna is going to sweep in for a quick hug before making her way in.)

Happy Birthday, Baby Girl.

( First Waverly gets the box that's held out, but Doc gives her a nice side hug, bringing his chin to the top of her head. )

[And also that you came after she'd hauled most of the decorations down to the secret stash room at the bar.]

(because nobody wants that.)

Doc got the demons to make you a vegan one. Which really shows that vegan food is a form of torture.

(what? she thinks she's funny.)

( That's right, that would've been ... inconvenient and a waste of a surprise. But she took care of those decorations. )

( He doesn't disagree, but, is this the time. )

There is also another cake made by a few friends. I have a picture of that one. ( It shouldn't be eaten by anyone. )

[Waverly is honestly touched when she learns it's vegan, and there's even a bit of a teasing eye roll when Wynonna equates it to a form of torture. But she will walk the cake over to the counter and eye the kitchen.]

Irish coffee to go with it?

[It seems fitting.]

Am I ever going to say no to coffee or booze?

(the answer is no.)

Or booze in coffee.

( Doc takes the cake box out of Waverly's hands so she can busy herself with their hard coffees and so Doc can busy himself with slicing into this... vegan... cake.

He does hope it is moist and delicious.

As he gets plates and slices, ) There are other vegan choices down here? ( He's never thought about it, but when he does, he hopes Waverly isn't eating bare bones because most of what Doc finds is meat and sides of vegetables. But nothing rooted in veganism. )

[Waverly wrinkles her nose before shaking her head.]

I've been erring more on the side of vegetarian lately. I don't want to ask for too much and wind up owing extra torture or something like that.

Not to mention that torture could be them sneaking people food in your meals -- that has happened.

(not to bring down the celebration, but just keeping it 100%)

( see Doc's disgusted face as he hands two plates, two pieces of cake and two forks sticking out to Wynonna and to Waverly. )

How does Cannibalism surprise me.

( he shudders, pointedly not taking a slice himself, but waiting patiently for the upgraded coffee. )

I could ask around with the demons, see if there is a particular chef or a special menu. One -- less special.
