Sara is aware Waverly isn't exactly herself at the moment, but things are weighing on her, on top of not being able to get in the house, feeling far from Waverly, Wynonna and Ray in more than one way, add in a whole lot of other unrelated guilt, and Sara decides to just get it over with and Waverly a text.

I would have told you this in person, but I don't know where you are.

But I want to apologize. It wasn't real, I know, but I was married to Nicole while we were stuck in Hellburbia. I promise there's nothing beyond that. I hope you're all right.

There's a pang, at the idea of someone else being with Nicole, but it's buried far down under the weight of everything else. The angel knows that this is something Waverly would care about, but wrestling with her own sense of duty and the role that she's being forced into is taking priority at the moment.

She doesn't want to deal with this, but she knows that she can't say nothing, so.

It wasn't your fault. You're forgiven.

Sara doesn't need more on her conscience that she doesn't deserve.

Sara stares at the return message for a while, an empty hollow feeling in her stomach. The forgiveness might mean more if Waverly felt like herself.

It's not about fault. I don't need forgiveness if you don't mean it, either.

Where are you staying?

The angel bristles at being accused of not meaning it - why apologize if not for absolution? Why present it if you were going to accuse her of not meaning it. She didn't like her sincerity being doubted, but she doesn't bother to bring it up.

I just got back to the hotel. I needed some space.

Sara can't handle what she doesn't know.

I don't know if I want to go back to the houses after this. I wanted to see how you, Wynonna and Ray feel first.

I don't want to go back right now. We could take one of the suites, if the rest of us agree.

She doesn't feel safe there, but she doesn't want to say that it would be that way forever. In a way, it would make sense to go back to a suite, the four of them together, and figure things out from there. But also given the state of their relationship, she doesn't want to assume. There's a pause as she considers her next words carefully.

But I would understand if you didn't want to room together any longer, given the changes.

It's not what she would prefer, necessarily. Sara has been a constant throughout her entire time in Penance, and she doesn't want to give that up, even if she isn't the same. But she wants to be courteous and give her the out.

You might not really be Waverly right now, but I'm going to stick with you and Wynonna.

As long as it's what all of them want. Sara doesn't need, or want an out. She just wants her friend back.

Okay.

Someday, maybe, she will get her friend that. But until then, Hell likes to make things complicated.

At least Sara stuck by Wynonna and angelified Waverly, even up to them disappearing. She'll be glad they went home, but will miss them, painfully.
